Almost all internal DOD/NASA and subcontractor documents during the time of the Apollo
missions were classified "top secret," "secret,"
or "code 1 through 4," (NOTE: code 1-4 were
classified, "confidential," so if you see
a document with a stamp, showing hand written code 1
through 4, it was classified, even if it didn't have
the word classified on it.). The other type of document
was for "internal" use only, which meant under
no circumstances were they to be given to anyone working
outside DOD/NASA. Many
were created just for top management DOD/NASA personnel only.
The
documents shown here are representative only, there
were thousands upon thousands more. Also keep in mind
that many documents that were originally classified
were later, after de-classification, printed without
the classification stamps. Also most of the classifications
were hand stamped on the documents. So if you look at
a newer document or one that didn't get stamped the
first time around, you wouldn't know that they were
originally classified during the Apollo (or other) missions
you would think they had never been classified.
Just
more of the BLACK OPS at
work! The classification of documents started at DOD/NASA when it was created. Almost all of the Mercury and Gemini
documents were originally classified. More on this in
the chapter proving DOD/NASA is a military organization.
And
you thought DOD/NASA had
an "open" space program, letting the world
see and hear everything that was going on? It was only
open as far as PAO wanted to give you that information.
By creating this propaganda it fostered an environment
so that everyone at the time thought they were getting
all of the information, so they didn't think they needed
to look any further. But most of the public information
being given to the people was false, and/or doctored.
New documents relating to the July, 1969 Apollo 11 mission
were still being classified as late as March, 1970!
And as I've said in the past, many documents are still
classified and are not available to the public.
Here
are just a few de-classified document covers: |
